Alpacas of the Alleghenies is located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in Western Central Pennsylvania. An area rich in the rural heritage of Pennsylvania. Alpacas of the Alleghenies was founded in 2003 by Dr. Bert and Mary Altmanshofer. Bert and Mary began breeding alpacas as a diversion from a busy Podiatric Medical and Surgical Practice and Healthcare Administration. Today, Alpacas of the Alleghenies is proud to be home of more than eighty breeding Huacaya Alpacas.
Bert and Mary’s high standards have driven them to seek out the best of the best to develop their breeding program. This strategy has produced a winning herd of alpacas.
Bert, Mary, daughters Kate and Emily invite you to come to central PA to visit one the industries best kept secrets. Once you have taken a stroll through the meadows, you will understand why Alpacas of the Alleghenies has been: Quietly Making A Lot of Noise.
